Top 8 Fruit for Gout Sufferers – Gout and Fruit

gout and fruit

Finding a proper diet when it comes to gout is more difficult than ever before. There are so many foods out there and most of them look perfectly delicious. But, you should not consume all of them.

It is mandatory to divide the foods into two main categories. The first one is a positive group and here you can find all the foods that don’t have any effect on gout or have only positive effects. Yes, even no-effect food on gout is better than the one from a second group.

The second group are foods that have a negative effect on gout. They can either increase uric acid levels, they can cause gout attack or increase the risk from it. In general, all foods that can make gout attack happens must be avoided.

What about gout and fruit? This is probably the hardest category or type to explain. In general, the fruits are good for gout sufferers but not all fruits. This is something I must explain furthermore.

What fruit is good for gout?

The best examples are cherries, berries, apples, pineapple, and even bananas. The best way is to eat all of these fruits in raw form, it is the most productive method of intake.

You can also drink juice made from these fruits or eat them in dried form but the number of benefits are limited or at least decreased.

There are two groups when it comes to fruits. The first group fruits should be consumed. First of all, fruit is generally rich in fiber and it is one ingredient gout patients do need.

Which fruit should we avoid with gout?

Other fruits with high oxalate values should be avoided. They can transform the calcium in the kidneys into kidney stones. Your kidney function will be decreased and uric acid won’t be properly removed from the body. Fruits of this caliber include mangoes, kiwi, peaches, and apricots.

I must add that the bad fruits can be consumed but in moderation and very small amounts.
