What I can say about fiber at this point? It is a mandatory nutrient that should be the main part of your diet and should be considered an appealing remedy for various issues and conditions.

I always make sure that I get enough fiber each day. It helps me with the diet and it offers several benefits I will explain in detail below. Yes, it is a more important part of the diet than you can imagine.

But today, I am interested in links between gout and fiber. Are there any links, are there any benefits and should you use fiber more in your diet? The obvious answer is yes you should, but explaining why and how it will take some time.

Details about fiber

You must know that fiber isn’t digested by the digestive tract and it actually passes through the body in the same form. However, if you mix one type of fiber with water you will get a gel-alike solution.

Another mandatory fact I must add here is that there are two main types of fiber. The first type is known as soluble fiber and you can find it in oats, apples, beans, and all citrus fruit. This is the type of fiber that gets dissolved in water.

The second type is insoluble fiber. This type of fiber is responsible for eliminating the risk of constipation, getting regular bowel movements and so much more. Basically, it helps the food pass through the digestive tract.

The insoluble fiber can be found in most plants, potatoes, nuts and seeds, pasta, bread, cauliflower, broccoli and so much more. Keep in mind that almost all plant-based sources have both types of fiber in their composition.

Health benefits of fiber

The Health benefits of fiber, in general, are massive. You can decrease the risk of bowel-related conditions, you can protect yourself from colon cancer, decrease the risk of diabetes and also avoid hemorrhoids.

All men who are under 50 years of age should get at least 38 grams of fiber per day. Women under 50 should get 28 grams of fiber per day. If you are a man over 50 years of age, you should have a daily intake of 30 grams per day. If you are a woman of the same age, you should have an intake of 21 grams.

Gout and fiber: Should you pay attention to it?

Yes, fiber is more than just important for all gout sufferers. The reasons are simple actually. First of all, you will get a regular stool and therefore maximize the amount of toxins, chemicals and waste your body removes from it.

Secondly, fiber is essential if you are overweight. It can help you lose, weight which is probably the most important thing a gout sufferer can and should do today.

Don’t forget that fiber has its effects on the sugar levels in the body and keeping them lower. Lower sugar means a lower level of uric acid, the compound we need as low as possible.

Gout patients should replace their protein-based diet for a fiber-based diet. What this means is that you should decrease the amount of red meat, white bread and etc. you should eat and opt for plants and vegetables in general.

It is important to add that you should start with a small amount of fiber per day and then gradually increase it.

How you should use fiber for treating gout

By now, we all know that fiber has positive effects on gout and as such it is more than just interesting addition to a diet. Gout and fiber are more connected than you may believe and there are all kinds of benefits in between.

To make sure you get those, you will need to base your diet on fiber. If you are a beginner and you don’t like experimenting, just replace meat with vegetables and you will be fine.

As I have mentioned, some of the best veggies that contain fiber are cauliflower, broccoli, potato, and various fruit. By adding it to your diet, you can expect less frequent gout attacks and you can make sure to decrease uric acid within days and all of that without any drawbacks.
