I recommend you to search the purine count of a specific food, you are trying to eat and only then act accordingly. You do not want to increase the purine intake because you will increase the production of uric acid and therefore cause a gout flare!

The next step involves grinding the peanuts and adding oils, salt and also sugar. This creates the paste we know as peanut butter. The entire process is done slowly, so the peanuts are not overheated and therefore eliminate the risk of additional cooking.

In general, most peanut butter products you can find in grocery stores contain 0 of cholesterol, a few carbs and also a low amount of fiber. But, peanut butter is also rich in antioxidants, gout sufferers do need.

Is peanut butter bad for gout?

You can eat peanut butter if you have gout. This food is low in purines and it contains plenty of vitamins and compounds we do need. However, if you are allergic to peanut you must avoid it at all costs!

I must add that peanut butter should be consumed by gout patients in moderation. Although it doesn’t have negative effects on the condition itself, it is rich in calories and it can contribute to weight gain. All gout sufferers must keep their weight at optimal numbers!

How to consume peanut butter if you suffer from gout

You can consume peanut butter in moderate amounts literally in any form you like. If you like it on the slice of bread, go for it. This is probably the most popular way how we consume it and I will claim that it is the best.

Additionally, you can spear peanut butter on a rice cake and add banana slices on the top. This is also my favorite meal and I love it. Also, bananas are good for gout sufferers as well.

You can consume it in other ways as well. Just keep in mind that you should avoid ingredients that are high in purines. It is easy to overlook them and as such, it isn’t a wise decision.

The bottom line is that gout and peanut butter can be mixed together. You should not expect some massive improvements for gout attacks risk and you cannot use it for managing pain. On the other hand, we have a better protein source and we have no side effects of any kind.
