The answer to gout and whey protein question is more than just complicated and I will need a few moments of your time to explain it. Basically, the whey protein is the main milk protein which is present in cow’s milk. This is one of the best proteins, at least neutral ones there are and it is highly beneficial for the human body, but this isn’t the whole answer. If you don’t want to spend any more time, keep in mind that whey protein must be avoided if you suffer from gout.
Exercising and whey protein or supplements
The most people who will take this type of protein are bodybuilders and weightlifters. This protein consists of 9 amino acids, so it is more than just desirable to consume before, during and after exercising. It is known that it can promote the healing process of the muscles and also help you recover much quicker than usual from your exercise.

For perfectly healthy people, this actually works. Basically, you will get all the benefits of the whey protein and not a single drawback. So they or if you are one of them, you should go for it. Taste is something you will have to get used to it, but at the end of a day, this is a desirable alternative to make your muscles bigger as soon as possible.
There are whey protein supplements as well. They are usually made in a safe way and they are beneficial as much as an actual whey protein. So, should you take them? If you are a healthy person, then yes, you can take them every day when you exercise. If you are like me, a gout sufferer, you must avoid them.
Our body cannot absorb as much whey protein as you would like, so the kidneys and liver will go into overdrive, trying to eliminate all the byproducts of this protein. What this causes is a higher level of uric acid. Higher levels of the acid mean that you are at a higher risk of developing a gout attack or a gout flare. So, the bottom line here is that all gout sufferers must avoid whey protein. Yes, it is a healthy alternative, but it isn’t good for us.

Don’t be sad because you actually don’t need protein supplements
I know that this matter may be a problematic one for most of you. It was for me. I wanted to train as hard as I could but I am not allowed to take any whey protein supplements. Then I discovered that I don’t actually need them. The human body is unable to process a large amount of protein, so you are not doing anything smart here. As a matter of fact, you can do only worse.
There has been a study conducted in the United States, which proved that 40 g of protein per a day, which is easy to obtain from red meat is perfectly sufficient for meeting your daily requirements. On the other hand, when you take a whey supplement, you will get 20 g of protein and around 90 calories. This is more than just high and it is something you must avoid at any cost!

All of us, gout sufferers must adapt the diet towards the actual requirements of our body. It is important to take as little or only the amount of protein you actually need and you don’t need more than that. The effect is the same with calories. By following this simple rule, you will have a much better quality of life and you will significantly decrease the risk of gout and gout attacks.
I hope that now you completely understand gout and whey protein connection. Just in case, if you want to know more or something I didn’t mention here, be free to leave a comment and I will answer you as soon as possible. At the moment, all you have to know is that whey protein isn’t something you need even if you are a bodybuilder and that a proper healthy diet is far more important. In reality, it will provide you with protein levels you actually need.
