Gout diet is based on purines. These are compounds found in almost any food and beverage. Well, when purines break, uric acid is produced. When the level of uric acid is high, it will form crystals in joints and we get a gout attack.
Literally, all foods have purines and you cannot avoid them. However, you can divide the foods and beverages on the number of purines they have. We have foods with massive amounts of purines and those with a few of them. As you may believe, the diet should be based on foods that have very low amounts of purines.
I have to write about gout and milk. There are so many gout sufferers that love milk, and they use it for every diet possible which makes it one of the most appealing and the most popular beverage (food for dairy products).
Nutrition found in milk
We all know where and how milk comes from, and we also know that it has plenty of health benefits. This is possible due to the fact we can find 149 calories, 88% water, 7.7 grams of protein, 11.7 grams of carbs, and also 8 grams of fat in 240 ml of milk.
Milk is rich in protein and various sub-types of this nutrient. They are all healthy proteins our body needs and uses. Add plenty of amino acids and you get one of the most appealing foods for gout sufferers.
The health benefits are massive. First of all, milk is essential for proper bone, teeth, and bone structure health. It is loaded with all the properties we need to keep our bones in proper shape.
Milk can also decrease the risk of stroke and cardiovascular diseases. At the same time, it promotes the health of the cardiovascular system and makes sure there are no severe complications.
Milk helps us with hydration, which is a process of getting the water inside the body and using it. An interesting fact is that besides water, milk is the next best thing for hydration and one that is very recommended.

I can spend hours of talking about the health benefits of milk. There are so many of them and new ones are being discovered as I speak. But, today I am more focused on gout and milk. That’s why you should continue reading.
Gout and milk connections
Yes, you can drink milk if you suffer from gout and you can drink it in massive amounts. There are several reasons why this is possible. The first one is the fact milk can actually decrease the uric acid level and as such decrease the risk of the next attack.
Secondly, milk can promote uric acid elimination from the body. It consists mostly from water meaning kidneys will have to filter more fluid and they will remove more uric acid.

Believe it or not, this is the claim from the Arthritis Foundation and according to them, milk is one of the elements of any diet that have countless benefits and it is perfectly recommended for gout sufferers.
There are no other facts and elements I can mention about gout and milk. There are no limitations of any kind when it comes to low-fat milk and it is highly desirable food gout suffers like.
Drinking milk and eating dairy products if you have gout
I must begin with the obvious fact. Only low-fat milk is recommended for gout suffers. However, this brings us to the whole array of products you can consume as well.
In a nutshell, you can consume low-fat milk, yogurt and some types of cheese. The best ones and the most recommended are mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar, feta, and American cheese. All of them come with low-fat milk source and they are completely safe.

But, when choosing your next dairy product you will have to consider another fact. Make sure it is actually made and it consists of dairy ingredients and not substitutes. While milk and milk products are great for gout, substitutes are not.
In the end, yes you can mix gout and milk and there are no complications of any kind. You will also get various benefits such as a lower level of uric acid and better elimination of it.
