So, how does this natural approach work after all? Normally, it is better known for helping the liver work properly. It is a common solution for those with liver related diseases. It also boosts the cardiovascular system, lowers the cholesterol and helps people with diabetes.

What really drew my attention was a flavonoid. Known as silymarin, this flavonoid is excellent as an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. As an antioxidant, it boosts the liver, but it also strengthens its activity and reduces the levels of uric acid.

Are there any restrictions?

I did bring in a series of natural ingredients to help with gout – from olive oil and basil to green tea and chamomile. They are all good, but there is something about gout and milk thistle – it works on your liver. There were no obvious signs of improvement within the first four or five weeks. After a couple of months, I could tell that my gout attacks were lower in intensity. There were times when I did not even touch my painkillers.

Furthermore, instead of having six or seven attacks a week, I barely had four or five of them and they were all manageable.

How to use milk thistle for gout?

You can find plenty of supplements based on milk thistle over the Internet – opt for something organic. You can also consume it as a tea, while the seeds can be thrown around salads or to garnish all kinds of fishes.
